Osceola
District is calling on all “valiant knights!” The 2008 Osceola Cub Family
Campout will have a medieval theme to it – and is calling on all knights of
the round to join the renaissance. All Cub Scouts in Osceola District are
welcome – and time to register is NOW!
The
CFCO will be held October 10-12 at Chisholm Park in St. Cloud. Registration
flyers are available at Roundtable and all District meetings.
If
you have any questions or need to register, please contact Rick Hunter at rickhunter445@yahoo.com

October
Roundtable
The poptober sale is in full swing and school
nights are wrapping up, but at the October Roundtable, we’ll focus on two
other major projects: recharter and Scouting for Food, so make sure your unit is
well represented!
Recharter packets will be handed out and we
will be hosting a recharter workshop to get folks motivated and trained on this
year’s process – we’re going all internet recharter – so this will be
new for lots of you!
In addition, units will be receiving their
Scouting for Food bags and signs, so be prepared to haul some stuff.
Roundtable will
be Monday, October 20th at 7pm at Bible Baptist Church. As always, look for fun,
music, snacks and drinks.
poptober!
Osceola’s poptober sale is in mid-stride, as
units hit the streets and stores with popcorn and take order forms.
The focus now
is selling your first order supply of popcorn and encouraging Scouts to fill up
their “fill it up” forms. Once they fill up their take order form, get them
registered for our weekly drawing for a laptop. Register at www.popcorn.cfcbsa.org.
Lots of laptops will be awarded in poptober!
Check your
poptober calendar to make sure you know what’s due and when. If you have a
poptober questions, please contact our poptober kernel, Jason Smith, at diznymagik4u@mac.com.
Scouting
for Food
Thanks to all
of the units who have committed to participating in Scouting for Food - the
largest one day food drive in America! Scouting for Food is a critical part of
what we teach our Scouts and everyone's participation is appreciated and
encouraged.
Your
participation in Scouting for Food is critical to the needs of our community.
As a District, our goal is to collect 25,000 pounds of food -- and we'll need
every unit's help to reach this worthy and lofty goal.
At the October
Roundtable, your unit will receive its ordered bags and signs. On the first
Saturday of November, your unit will place bags on doors throughout your
assigned neighborhoods. Then the following Saturday, your unit will pick up the
bags and bring the food to your delivery site. In St. Cloud, units will deliver
to the Winn Dixie on Canoe Creek Road. In Kissimmee, units will deliver to the
Council on Aging.
All of the food
collected in Osceola County stays in Osceola County.

Staying
in the Know
There
are several ways to stay in the know when it comes to District events, campouts
and activities.
1)
Receive e-mails from the District’s Osceola BSA Yahoo groups. To
receive District e-mails, simply send an e-mail to osceolabsa-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
2)
Attend Roundtable! Roundtable is a once a month meeting for ALL unit
leaders. Monthly trainings are held at Roundtable for all Cub Scout and Boy
Scout leaders. The latest District and Council news is also available.
Roundtable is held on the 3rd-Monday of the month at 7pm at Bible
Baptist Church, which is on 192 between Denn John and Michigan Avenue. It’s
across from Valencia Community College.
Register
to be a leader! If you’re not registered as a leader in your unit, do it! It
will do wonders for you, your kids and your community. Not to mention, all
registered leaders receive Scouting magazine for free. It comes once a month and
is chock full of helpful Scouting information.
