The Boy Scouts of
America's Central Florida Council is made up of 14-Districts. The
southernmost District is Osceola. Its border matches the border of
Osceola County. So, Osceola District, like the 13-other Districts, is a
geographic area of the Central Florida Council.
Scouting is strong in Osceola District. There are currently 60-Scouting
units in the District including Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops,
Venture Crews, Varsity Teams and Exploring Posts. The District, like the
County, is growing exponentially with people moving in to all of the
population centers: Kissimmee, St. Cloud, Buenaventura Lakes, Poinciana,
Celebration, Narcoossee and Harmony.
Nearly 2,000 boys and girls are currently members of the Boy Scouts of
America in Osceola District, along with more than 500 adults. The Boy
Scouting program will celebrate its 100th Anniversary in 2010 and
decades of success has kept the program strong.
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to instill values in young
people so they can make ethical decisions later in life. Boy Scouts are
known for camping, hiking and climbing, but learning those skills with
the foundation of the Scout Oath and Scout Law is what seperates the Boy
Scouts from other youth programs.
The Scouting program is also unique because the entire program from the
National Office, to the Council and District levels are run by
high-quality adult volunteers. Professional Scouters are in place at all
levels to serve and recruit those volunteers.
So, if you are interested in Scouting and are a part of Osceola County,

the Scouting movement!
